One18 Empire

Now this isn’t the place to brush your teeth with a bottle of Jack, but if you’re going out there tonight, there’s a chance you won’t want to come back. With over 35 varieties to sample and regular tastings held in the McTavish Room, you can be sipping your way through a world of whisky with Alberta’s spirits experts guiding you. Hayden Block Smoke and Whiskey

This place is for devout carnivores and whisky enthusiasts. Choose from a variety of globally sourced-including plenty of American, Canadian, Scottish, and Japanese-whiskies. If you aren’t a neat or on the rocks kind of whisky lover, try one of their whisky cocktails that will warm your soul this winter along with a side of beef brisket.

Buchanans Chop House and Whisky Bar

Take a seat at the classic mahogany bar that has been serving Scotland’s Highland, Inland, Islay, and Cambeltown malts to Calgarians for over 25 years. To really whet your whisky appetite go there for Whisky Wednesdays to sample flights on special that’ll leave you not thinking about tomorrow.

The Bourbon Room

Tucked away in The National on 10th, this intimate 50-seat lounge decorated with vintage prohibition-era touches provides a laid-back ambience that makes anyone entering it feel chic. Bourbon- a whisky generally made in Kentucky- is the star at this bar where you can book boozy educational sessions of groups of four  to 40 to expand your whisky knowledge.
