You can’t put a price on happiness – but reasonably-priced, delicious food makes us pretty damn happy.

Calgary has a great selection of cheap eats. Here are 12 under $10 you’ve gotta try.

1. Fried Chicken Combo from Chicken On The Way

Chicken On The Way is a YYC institution. You know when you’re getting closer towards that giant metal chicken cheap, greasy, delicious food is almost within your grasp. Get the fried chicken with fries and COTW’s notorious deep fried corn fritters (and try them with honey) for only $9.20.

2. Breakfast and Flapper Pie from Blackfoot Truckstop Diner

Simple and delicious, if you head to the Blackfoot Truckstop Diner you’re guaranteed to leave full (mostly full of fries). We’d recommend getting the Cowboy’s Breakfast – think Alberta beef – along with a flapper pie to finish off your meal.

3. Dinner Box from Singapore Sam’s

If you’re into using chop sticks as drum sticks and ordering way to much late night Chinese food as Aqua blasts in the background, this is the place for you. Sam’s is a popular after bar spot because of the cheap eats and the table dancing. Get the dinner box that includes rice, meat, two spring rolls, and dumplings for $10.

4. Vermicelli Bowl from Pho Huong Viet

The Vermicelli Bowl from Pho Huong Viet is delicious, filling, and only $9.95. You may want to get a Vietnamese Coffee to-go once you’re finished your meal because you will definitely be leaving in a food comma.

A burger, a milkshake, and a huge bucket of fries for under $10. You can have everything your heart desires at Peters’ and not break the bank.

5. Hot Dog from Tubby Dog

Hot dogs from Tubby Dog are piled high with toppings that you’d never find anywhere else (PBJ hotdog, anyone?). Each dog is only $7.25, so you’ll have no guilt about opting for the onion rings too.

Aside from the steak and eggs combo, everything on the Kane’s breakfast menu is under $10. This makes the 50s-style diner a prime spot to head for cheap breakfast and group meals. We’d recommend getting the Biker Bowl, which is essential a large eggs benedict concoction.
