A Canmore woman has escaped with some injuries after a run-in with a bear over the weekend.

Reported by the Bow Valley WildSmart facebook group, a woman was walking with her dog in the closure area near the Canmore Reservoir when she was attacked by a bear.

“She has been treated in the hospital for her injuries and released. The dog was unharmed,” reads a statement on the facebook wall.

Officers are currently investigating the situation and are in the process of determining next steps.

The woman was sent to the hospital, treated for her injuries, and later released.

The area along the Canmore Reservoir is closed to all until further notice. Fish and Wildlife did confirm to the group that there are several bears in the area.
