Calgary’s annual Beakerhead festival of arts, science, and engineering will not go ahead this year during the pandemic, organizers announced via Instagram Monday.

The festival usually happens in Prince’s Island Park in September, but not this year.

“It is with sadness and utmost respect for medical science that we announce Beakerhead’s September Festival and Spectacle must be postponed until September 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” organizers said.

It added its team remains “hard at work in the lab” to bring new things in the coming months.

It encouraged all those who planned on attending to keep washing their hands and practicing physical distancing.

“Together we will get through this,” it said.
