Fans of the hit Canadian television show Heated Rivalry might want to mark their calendars for this: the lakeside cottage, referred to by the series’ main characters as “The Cottage,” will officially be available to book on Airbnb starting late this winter.

The real-life property, located in Ontario’s Muskoka region, served as the filming location for the show’s now-iconic cottage scenes and has quickly become a fan-favourite setting. It is formally named the “Barlochan Cottage.”

According to the listing, off-screen, it is a three-bedroom, three-bath home sleeping up to six guests. Each bedroom has a queen-sized bed.

The contemporary design of the cottage blends rustic charm with thoughtful design: an open-concept kitchen and dining area with a wood fireplace flows into a living room with a gas fireplace, while a lower-level recreation room with an entertainment system and fitness gym gives guests plenty of room to spread out.

The home comes equipped with amenities such as a full kitchen, high-speed WiFi, multiple televisions, and laundry facilities.

While there is a generator, the cottage is not equipped with air conditioning. Temperatures in Muskoka are known to range from as low as -20°C in the winter to as high as over 30°C in the summer. Furthermore, the Muskoka area is well known for its intense mosquito season from May to September, with peak activity at dawn and dusk.

Outdoor amenities include a patio with furniture, a gas barbecue, a fire pit, and nearly 400 ft. of private shoreline with a sandy shallow entry into the water. The cottage provides guests with access to three kayaks and two canoes.

Guests can enjoy the lakeside views and sunsets — no dramatic hockey rivalries required. There is plenty of space to pretend you are the main character in a slow-burning romance.

Nightly rates start at about C$248.10, a playful nod to the jersey numbers of protagonists of Heated Rivalry, and interest is expected to be very high once reservations on Airbnb open at noon ET/9 a.m. PT on March 3, 2026. Four early stay bookings will be available before the cottage opens for regular bookings — during the weekends of May 8 to 10, May 16 to 18, May 22 to 24, and May 29 to 31.

Built in 2020, Barlochan Cottage was designed by Muskoka-based Trevor McIvor Architect. It is a custom-designed, prefabricated modular structure with local granite and Douglas Fir materials, with Kindl — a traditional Japanese charred wood — used for the building’s cladding.

The floor plates are stepped to design around its natural Canadian Shield location.

The cottage is about a 20-minute drive from the towns of Gravenhurst and Bala, and about two hours and 30 minutes from downtown Toronto.
