A&W just announced that it’s adding a brand-new plant-based burger to menus across Canada, joining an already impressive fleet.
It’s been an exciting summer for plant-based fast food fanatics in Canada, from A&W adding three fan-favourite vegetarian burgers to its menu permanently to McDonald’s Canada adding its brand-new McVeggie burger to menus across the country.
Now, there’s even more cause for celebration, as A&W announces they’ve added yet another vegetarian burger to their menu, and it’s available at all A&W locations from coast to coast.
If Piri-Piri Potato or Masala Veggie aren’t really your style, you’re in luck, because A&W’s new Plant-Based Burger is an ode to the good old-fashioned classics.
The burger features an original plant-based patty (made of a blend of pea protein and soy), which comes topped with lettuce, red onion, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mustard and mayo, sandwiched between a toasted sesame bun.
Sorry, vegans, due to the mayo, this one’s not for you, but you can always ask your friendly neighbourhood A&W worker to remove it. The ingredients in their buns don’t typically include animal products, but ingredients can vary by location, so be sure to double-check on that, too.
“All guests deserve a fantastic variety of delicious, innovative menu items,” says Karen Suri, A&W Canada’s Senior Director of Innovation.
“By taking the lead on our own plant-based recipe, we can ensure we are always delivering delicious, crave-worthy burgers that our guests expect from A&W.”
Indeed, the Plant-Based burger appears to have replaced the cult-favourite, though admittedly divisive, Beyond Meat Burger on the menu.
You can officially try the Plant-Based burger for yourself at your nearest local A&W. Just don’t forget to wash it down with a root beer.
