How ATCO Energy is helping to strengthen communities across Alberta

With great power comes great responsibility, and ATCO Energy is taking that phrase literally. The Alberta-based energy and home services provider is all about strengthening the communities it serves, which is why it’s committing one per cent of its annual profits to various charities and organizations that give Albertans a helping hand when they need it most.

This isn’t a one-off donation, but an annual commitment that aims to expand on existing partnerships while fostering new ones.

ATCO Energy partners with the Women In Need Society (WINS) to empower their families across Calgary through energy savings, community programs and lasting impact.

WINS provides essential services to women and their families in Calgary, such as basic needs, employment programs, community programs, and access to local resources. One such way they fund these services is through WINS thrift stores, and that’s where ATCO Energy comes into play.

ATCO Energy stepped up to be the official energy provider for WINS, powering seven of their retail locations and their 30,000-square-foot donation centre. By reducing operating costs, WINS can redirect savings into their programs and support even more Calgarians.

Earlier this year, ATCO Energy also announced an expansion of its partnership with Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta. As the Official Energy and Home Services Supplier, ATCO Energy is helping to offset operations costs and ensure homes are move-in ready, in addition to its history of financial and in-kind support, which has contributed nearly $200,000 since 2022.

Some other ways ATCO Energy honours its values are by hosting various fundraising initiatives all year long. These include annual holiday fundraising campaigns, donation-matching days, monthly employee volunteer shifts, community clean-up and housing revitalization projects, and discounted energy and home services to its partners.
