Canadian apparel brand DUER opens new 2,000 sq ft Calgary store
The COVID-19 crisis resulted in the temporary closure of brick-and-mortar retail stores across the country earlier this year. But as Alberta works through its restart plan, shopping in-store is possible once again.
Canadian-born apparel brand DUER opened its third retail location in Calgary earlier this month at 1708 4th Street Southwest, a 2,000 sq ft space formerly occupied by lululemon.
As restrictions lift, walk-in traffic is welcome. Capacity is still closely monitored so for extra assurance that you’ll be able to shop, the retailer is also inviting guests to book an appointment. Safety precautions are in place on-site, with face masks and hand sanitizer available for those with scheduled shopping slots.
DUER chose Calgary as the next location for a storefront based on a pre-established customer base in the market. The store is also nestled right in the city’s central retail and entertainment district.
Inside the store, visitors can expect to find DUER’s famous playground design outfitted with swings, monkey bars, and soft rubber flooring. This concept and experiential approach originated at the brand’s Vancouver flagship store.
The idea behind an adult-friendly indoor playground? It allows customers to fully experience the comfort, durability, and stretch characteristic of DUER apparel when trying on items.
In 2013, DUER came to life when the brand’s founder, Gary Lenett, was inspired to create stylish and functional pants with the versatility to jump off a bike and walk straight into the boardroom without having to change.
Today, the brand continues to design comfortable technical apparel for everyday wear, commuting, and adventure. DUER pants have a signature gusset allowing for more flexibility and five times the stretch of traditional denim. They also have temperature control properties to keep you cool on the move.
“Expanding into Calgary has been on our radar for a couple of years,” Lenett stated in a release. “Although opening a new retail location in the current climate isn’t a simple task, it hasn’t clouded our enthusiasm.”
In addition to the new store, DUER announced the launch of its reduced waste production model: NEXT by DUER. The brand will gauge demand for new products and offer customers the chance to buy items at a discount before they are produced.
Highly-anticipated, a comfort-driven trouser with stretch is on deck to launch July 29 through the NEXT program on the DUER site. The sophisticated and versatile evolution of the dress pant with four times the stretch of standard trousers will be available for purchase at a discounted price through the pre-sale program for a one month period.
Calgarians will now have the opportunity to change up their WFH attire and shop safely for durable DUER apparel at the city’s brand new store.
