Owners of Android phones will be able to install the pay app from the Google Play store and simply tap their phone to when they are at the till.

“Android Pay is rolling out with eligible Visa and MasterCard credit cards and Interac debit cards from BMO Bank of Montreal, CIBC, Banque Nationale, Scotiabank, Desjardins, President’s Choice Financial, ATB Financial, and Canadian Tire Financial Services in Canada, and prepaid Scotiabank and Desjardins cards,” Google said in a release.

“Support for American Express cards and Tangerine is coming soon. You can add multiple eligible cards and select which card you want to use before you pay, so you can always enjoy the best deals available.”

The app’s setup is quite simple. Users just need to download the Android Pay app from the Google Play and then add a credit or debit card from a participating bank.

Opening the app at checkout isn’t necessary. To pay, just make sure your phone is unlocked and hold it up to the terminal.

Retailers supporting Android Play include McDonald’s, Loblaws, Pizza Pizza, Tim Hortons, Superstore, and Chapters.
