Amazon Echo now available in Canada for first time ever

Who wouldn’t want a robot assistant?

Amazon’s Alexa has arrived in Canada in the form of the Echo, a hands-free, voice-controlled speaker that allows you to connect to the digital assistant with a single word.

Pair it with some other gadgets available from Amazon and Alexa will be able to do more than just tell you the weather or the time; it will be able to turn lights on and off, lock your doors, close your blinds, and more.

Basically, once you’ve properly set up your ‘smart’ home, you’ll never need to get up to make sure you’ve locked the door, or go downstairs to turn the lights off. Ever. Again.

The Amazon Echo comes in three colours that put Rose Gold to shame: Sandstone, heather grey, and charcoal – so it’ll blend right in no matter what aesthetic you’re going for.

Amazon has released three Alexa-related devices in Canada: The Echo along with the Echo Dot, which extends the echo into multiple rooms, and the Echo Plus, which comes with a built-in ZigBee smart home hub.

Even if you don’t need to adjust the thermostat, turn on the tv, or get some music going, it’s pretty cool to know that you could just by asking.

…Politely, of course, as robots (may one day) have feelings too.
