Part Italian ‘pasticceria’ (patisserie), part upscale-casual restaurant, Alforno Bakery & Café located at 222 7th Street SW, in Eau Claire, is slated to open mid-January.

Owned and operated by the Teatro Restaurant Group, who also run Teatro, Cucina Market Bistro, Vendome Café, Carne, Ca’Pucinni, and EAT, Alforno Bakery & Café will offer freshly made artisan bread, pastries, cookies, and loaves, as well as full service brunch, lunch, and dinner menus.

Overseeing Alforno’s food program is Executive Chef Erik Burley (previously at Vendome Café) and Executive Pastry Chef Leah Gamache (previously at Teatro). Not only will the duo, in their respective roles, prepare the meals offered and ensure the shelves are lined with enticing treats daily, but they will also provide all the existing Treatro properties with freahly baked goods.

Calgary-based RAD Architecture and Interiors were employed to redesign the 50-seat eatery and bakehouse, which is situated a stone’s throw away from the Bow River pathway. The newly renovated space will feature wooden counter tops, ceiling windows, a dedicated retail bakery area, and a grab-and-go station affiliated with the on-site café.

Alongside the tempting assortment of baked goods, Alforno will also offer a variety of hot and cold beverages. Coffee will be available and supplied by Paradise Mountain, and there will also be a select wine list and a full service bar.
