Wild weather: Iqaluit is drastically warmer than ALL of Alberta today

When you think of Nunavut in January, you may think of wild cold, but today all of Alberta is colder than its capital city of Iqaluit.

Much of Alberta is currently blanketed by extreme cold warnings due to some areas forecast to endure wind chills set to plummet to -40°C, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).

Looking at the forecast for Alberta, ECCC says at 9 am the hot spot in Alberta was Nakiska Ridgetop at -10.9°C, while the cold spot was Garden River at a numbing -38.7°C.

The warm spot in Alberta is double the current temperature in Iqaluit, more than 2,700 kilometres to the northeast of Edmonton, with the capital of Nunavut forecast to see a lovely daytime high of zero.
