An Alberta town is one of the coldest places on Earth today
It’s sure cold and snowy across much of Alberta this morning, and one town has landed as one of the coldest spots on Earth today.
According to a new weather report from WX-Now, which tracks the world’s most extreme weather, plenty of Canadian locations were some of the coldest places on the planet on Wednesday, Dec. 24, with an Alberta spot landing on the list.
Spots in the far north and Russia are really feeling the cold this morning, with Yakutsk, Russia, and Faro and Watson Lake, both in the Yukon, leading the pack at a mind-numbing -48°C. Carmacks and Mayo, also in the Yukon, are second and third place on the list, at -47°C and -45°C, respectively.

High Level, Alta., with a population just over 4,000 people, is sitting at a bone-chilling -41°C this morning, with a windchill value of -49°C, making it the coldest spot in the province and one of the 10 coldest places on Earth.
The town is currently under a cold warning, as is much of northern Alberta, with ECCC stating that a long period of very cold wind chills continues. Wind chill values near minus 40 will continue today. Temperatures are expected to moderate on Thursday. Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.
