The November forecast for Alberta is out, and if you’ve been putting off preparing for the winter season ahead, it’s time to get ready for the season.
We caught up with Danielle Desjardins, a warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), who says November in Alberta looks to be slightly warmer than normal, but with the usual ups and downs of the season.
Average November highs are around 7°C in Calgary (lows near -6°C) and 5°C in Edmonton (lows near -4°C), but that doesn’t mean every day will feel mild.
“You’re still going to get days both above and below normal,” Desjardins said.

November in Alberta is expected to bring a mix of warmer stretches, cold snaps, and occasional snowfalls, influenced by a weak La Nina, which makes long-term trends less predictable, she noted.

Precipitation is even trickier to forecast: Southern Alberta may be a bit drier than usual, while the north could see average to slightly above-average moisture.
