Alberta officials have extended current public health restrictions until at least January 21.

The province promised it would communicate with businesses and service providers about changes to the restrictions at least one week before they happen.

“Active evaluation of the latest public health data is underway and will be used to re-evaluate the current level of restrictions over the coming weeks,” the province said in an news release Thursday.

Right now all indoor and outdoor gatherings are prohibited, and Albertans should only be spending time with members of their immediate household. Those who live alone can choose up to two people they can have contact with.

Restaurants and bars are also closed and only able to offer takeout service. Gyms and fitness facilities are closed, and so are most other indoor entertainment venues. Personal service businesses such as hair salons also must close until the restrictions lift.

More information about the restrictions is available on the province’s website.
