Alberta health officials discovered 18 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours according to a news release Sunday afternoon.

The new patients bring the province’s active case count to 584. Since the start of the pandemic, Alberta has seen 7,010 coronavirus cases.

Nobody else died from the virus in the last day, meaning the death toll for Alberta remains at 143.

So far, 6,283 people have recovered from their coronavirus infections in the province, according to the government.

Right now there are 56 coronavirus patients in Alberta hospitals, with six of them in intensive care.

Alberta has expanded testing to be available to everyone regardless of whether they have symptoms. Starting in June, residents will also be able to pick up free masks at certain fast food drive-thrus.
