Alberta records 241 new cases of coronavirus, 4 new deaths

There are now 2,803 known and confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Alberta, following Sunday’s increase of 241 new cases.

The provincial government says there have also been four new deaths since the last report, which brings Alberta’s coronavirus death toll to 55 people. This includes one deceased resident at the Manoir du Lac care home, increasing the total deaths at this facility to six people.

Currently, 65 people are in hospital, including 16 people being cared for in intensive care units.

Here is a breakdown of all of the cases in all zones across the province:

  • Calgary zone: 1,997
  • Edmonton zone: 429
  • South zone: 142
  • North zone: 137
  • Central zone: 76
  • Location unconfirmed: 22

To date, 1,198 of these infected individuals in the province have recovered, and it is believed 488 of the total cases were community acquired.

The provincial government says 38 deaths were in the Calgary zone, eight in the Edmonton zone, eight in the North zone, and one in the Central zone. Most of Alberta’s deaths are located in continuing care facilities, where 36 residents have died and 307 cases have been confirmed.

So far, Alberta has tested 97,180 people for COVID-19, and a total of 101,323 tests have been performed by the lab. Over the last 24 hours, 4,426 tests have been completed.
