Alberta saw active coronavirus cases drop by 24 in the past 24 hours

There has now been a total of 8,519 cases of COVID-19 in Alberta since the pandemic began in March, with 37 of those being detected over the past 24 hours.

According to a recent report from the Province of Alberta, Thursday, July 9 saw that case count increase alongside three additional deaths related to the virus, bringing the province’s total death count to 161.

However, even with the increase in total cases, Alberta saw a 24 case drop in active cases over the past 24 hours, leaving just 584 active.

A total of 7,774 Albertans have recovered from coronavirus so far, while 46 are in hospital and seven are in an intensive care unit.

The majority of hospitalizations are found in the Edmonton Zone with 27, though Calgary has recently surpassed Edmonton for most active cases with 220.
