You can adopt a pet from the city for half the cost this weekend

If you feel like it’s finally time to add to the family — without the whole hassle of pregnancy, giving birth, and raising a literal human for the rest of your life — then you’re in luck!
The City of Calgary is reducing the cost of adopting a pet this weekend in celebration of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day.
Over 75 dogs and cats will be seeking a good home this weekend, and between Saturday, April 28 and Monday, April 30, you can adopt a dog for just $106 or a cat for $80 (or both!).
Unfortunately, puppies and kittens under 6 months old are not included in the adopt-a-thon, but that’s likely because the younger animals don’t have as hard a time finding a home as their older, no-less-adorable, counterparts.
The adoption fees cover spaying/neutering, the first set of vaccines, Felv/FIV testing for cats, and microchipping.
All new owners will also receive a bag of cat or dog food, six weeks of pet insurance, a six-month animal license, and the assurance that all cats and dogs have had a veterinary health exam while at the shelter.
Potential pet owners are encouraged to stop by Calgary Animal Services at Portland Street SE between 10 am and 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday, or 10 am and 6 pm on Monday.
Pets available for adoption can be viewed at the City of Calgary’s website.
