Calgary International Blues Festival

  • What: An exciting line up of events and artist are at the 11th Calgary Blues fest. This family friendly event is renowned for its blues music, hospitality and relaxed atmosphere.

Calgary Fringe Festival

  • What: Fringes are uncensored, non-juried shows, there are roughly 26 productions creating more than 160 performances over the 9 days. There are a wide variety of shows including imrov, dance, theater, film, and more.

Ron Thorn and the Allied Arts

  • What: Ron Thorn, a Vancouver architect, will have his work on display from water colour to architectural drawings to an exquisite front door.

Historic Calgary Week

  • What: During the 25th Anniversary of the Historic Week Calgary you will find 65 different events. Events include a hunt to discover hidden history nuggets throughout the city, historical cross word puzzles, and a history book is being developed from input by 20 volunteer authors.

 Shakespeare By The Bow

  • What: Shakespeare by the bow is an fantastic way to spend an evening. You will be watching recently graduated post-secondary actors and actresses from across Alberta perform live theater.

WWI Tavern Night at the Cave and Basin

  • What: Learn what it might have been like in the days of WWI when the world was in turmoil. Observe live music of the era, stories, soldiers in period costume, films, cash bar, and pub  food.

  • What: Tour the Cave and Basin after hours with a lantern at your side. You will get to explore the ancient walls and experience the echoing sounds of the cave. Host to the thermal waters, the cave and basin makes an interesting trip. They will supply you with the lanterns so that you can explore the cave.

Garden Tour at Lougheed House

  • What: Come see the head gardener and lovely volunteers work on the themed garden.

Captain Cruises

  • What: Ride on Calgary’s only paddlewheel boat while listening to Jazz music and observing the gorgeous Rocky Mountains and views of Glenmore. Kensington Beach in the city

  • What: Can’t make it to the beach this weekend? No problem, Kensington will be transformed into an urban beach party. Heritage Park

Corn Maze

  • What: It’s the largest corn maze in Southern Alberta and don’t worry about getting lost there are lots of activities to help get you through the maze.

Afrikadey! Festival

Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association Saturday Farmers’ Market Launch

  • What: These markets will be every Wednesday rain or shine from 3p.m. to 7p.m. from the end of May to October. They strive for quality food and goods that are produced from local farmers, food creators and artisans.

STORYHIVE Music Video Screening

  • What: A group that is looking for creative talent in Alberta and BC to give production grants to allow competitors to make their video projects happen. The winner, one from Alberta and one from BC, will also receive $30,000 grant, to produce a music video and documentary, training and mentorship opportunities, and distribution on TELUS Optik TV. The community gets to vote on which of the competing projects screens on TELUS Optik TV, online and everywhere.

Preseids Meteor Shower

  • What: Prepare for one of the most beloved meteor showers of the year for the Northern Hemisphere. Go anywhere on the outskirts of the city, to watch the preseids meteor shower, tonight there should be little obstruction from the moon. The perseids tend to strengthen as late night deepens into midnight and produce the most meteors during dawn.

Inner-City underground Market

  • What: The market is full of a variety of venders and its growing fast. Come and explore, it’s a great way to meet new people and try new things.

Downtown Street Piano series

  • What: For 4 years, Downtown Calgary has commissioned outdoor street pianos to encourage people to play and listen to music. There are now two pianos, the Woodlands piano located on 3rd street and 6th Avenue SW and the new one, Wee Little piano which features a book exchange, located on 8th ave & Centre Street SW. There will be different artists performing on these pianos on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Kids Grow

  • What: Kids Grow is a collaborative, community based program run by volunteers. Kids Grow is geared towards getting kids aged 5-6 involved with community gardening. This is done through a workshop, that has crafts, games and activities.

Fishing Season at Bow Habitat Station

  • What: Learn how to catch and release fish at this little pond by fishery.
