It’s not always easy finding things to keep kids entertained, and most activities take quite the toll on your bank account. Luckily for you, there are plenty of free things to do in Calgary that won’t make you go broke while you maintain your sanity.

Here are 5 free things to do in Calgary with your kids.

Visit a Farmer’s Market

Farmer’s Markets in Calgary have tons of activities to keep your kids occupied.

At the Symons Valley Ranch Farmer’s Market on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. kids can see pens full of guinea pigs and ducks. The market itself is open year-round for you to take the littles one out for a market stroll and this weekend they are hosting a free Family Carnival Game Day with games in the outdoor courtyard, along with music and face painting.

The Hillhurst Sunnyside Farmer’s Market has a volunteer run kids craft table that has face painting and a collage and drawing area. They also have bouncy castles to help burn off the abundance of energy kids have. The market is open Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Kids will love the playground at the Calgary Farmer’s Market. It’s located right in the food court area so you can grab some food while your kids play. The market also organizes fun classes for kids including a gardening class and cooking class.

Story time at Pottery Barn Kids

At the only Pottery Barn Kids store in Alberta, enjoy story time every Tuesday from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at their Chinook Mall location. If you sign up to become a book club member you’ll get a special gift after attending 5 story time sessions.
