What started like a normal warm August day ended in an insane flash flood at around 5 p.m. in the evening. There was a bit of lightning before hand but when the storm hit it hit hard with pounding hail and rain.
According to CBC News, The heavy rain caused power to go out for as many as 20,000 customers around Calgary. By 9p.m. power was restored for everyone except for a few places in the Southeast.
The rain did cause flooding on major roads and some underpasses had to be closed, the Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) deputy chief Susan Henry told CBC News. She said, there were many 911 calls due to downed trees, manhole covers being blown off and a roof that had been ripped from a housing complex.
