Calgarians had to stay up a little later last night to witness clearly how a stunning full moon illuminated the city on the summer solstice.
The “strawberry moon,” as it’s known, isn’t a different colour than any other full moon. It’s the first full moon of June and was traditionally used by Native American tribes as a signifier of the start of strawberry season.
The last time the strawberry moon happened on the first day of summer was back in 1967.
