16 photos and videos of the strawberry moon over Calgary

Calgarians had to stay up a little later last night to witness clearly how a stunning full moon illuminated the city on the summer solstice.

The “strawberry moon,” as it’s known, isn’t a different colour than any other full moon. It’s the first full moon of June and was traditionally used by Native American tribes as a signifier of the start of strawberry season.

The last time the strawberry moon happened on the first day of summer was back in 1967.

Here are 15 photos and one awesome timelapse video of last night’s strawberry moon that bathed Calgary in glowing white light.
