10 of the tallest buildings currently under construction in Calgary

Calgary is a seemingly forever developing city, with construction projects popping out of the woodwork all of the time.

With so many incredible projects being built in downtown Calgary it’s hard to keep track of the city’s ever-changing skyline. To help, here is a list of the 10 tallest buildings currently under construction:

1. Brookfield Place

Floor count: 56
Roof height: 810 ft

Brookfield Place, specifically the building’s East tower, is going to be taller than Calgary’s tallest building, The Bow, when it’s completed in 2017. Located between 1st and 2nd Streets and 6th and 7th Avenues SW, Brookfield Place is fairly close to the river and offers many shops and restaurants nearby. The building is mainly office and retail, but will also play host to a half-acre lit public plaza. The plaza will feature restaurants and cafés, public art displays, cultural activities and programmed activities provided by Brookfield’s award-winning Arts and Events program.

2. Telus Sky

Floor count: 58
Roof height:  728 ft

TELUS Sky is fashioned to be a combination of office space, luxury residential living, and retail stores. At 761,235 square feet this project will be big, and it’s expected to make it’s mark on Calgary’s skyline in 2017. Sitting at the corner of the 100 block of 7 Avenue SW, the project will be our first LEED Platinum building in Calgary.

3. The Guardian

Floor count:  44
Roof height: 482 ft

The Guardian, located in Victoria Park, is set to be the tallest residential building in Calgary. It is made up of two towers, The Guardian North and The Guardian South, and, will be completed later this year. The high-rise features floor-to-ceiling windows providing incredible views of the Bow River.

4. Vogue

Floor count: 36
Roof height: 410 ft

Another residential building, the Vogue, captures spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains and is located very close to the downtown core at the corner of 6th Avenue and 8th Street SW. The building will be ready to live in later this year.

5. 707 Fifth Street

Floor count: 27
Roof height: 407 ft

Completion is expected to be in 2017 for the 707 Fifth Street office building. The design is meant to be simple yet compelling. The building features an indoor winter garden with a 30-foot tall lobby connected.

6. WAM on 10th West

Floor count: 34
Roof height: 390 ft

WAM on 10th West is a mixed-use building, located in the Beltline area of Calgary, and is set for completion for the summer 2016.

7. The Royal

Floor count: 34
Roof height: 377 ft

Completion for The Royal is set for 2018. The mix-use building is expected to be the tallest building in the Mount Royal Village area. A full-service concierge will be available 24-hours a day to take care of packages, coordinate amenity spaces and more.

8. Mark on 10th

Floor count: 34
Roof height: 361 ft

In 2016 Mark on 10th will be complete, and even though the mixed-use residential building has not yet been finished, it has sold out completely. Crowned with rooftop amenities, amazing views, and is to host the highest urban garden in the city, Mark on 10th is impressive.

9. Park Point Tower

Floor count: 32
Roof height: 351 ft

Park point, finishing in 2017, is noted as being walkable, beautiful, and central. Located in Calgary’s Beltline area, Park Point Tower is a residential building and is conveniently by the historic Central Memorial Park and Memorial Park Public Library.

10. Evolution Pulse

Floor count: 31
Roof height: 351 ft

Expected to be completed in 2016 the residential building, Evolution Pulse, will be a welcome addition to the Calgary Skyline. It’s located near many different shops and services in East Village.
