A shooting Saturday evening in Calgary’s Saddle Ridge neighbourhood left one man dead and sent another to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Calgary Police Service was called out to Saddlecrest Boulevard, a street in a residential area, around 7:30 pm, the force said in a news release. Officers found one man in his 30s dead at the scene, and a second man in his 20s was gravely injured.

“We need witnesses to come forward to help us put a stop to these brazen shootings that are putting innocent bystanders at risk,”  Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta said in a news release.

“If you were in the area at the time, please contact us. Even the smallest piece of information could be critical to our investigation.”

Police do not yet have a suspect description. They say an autopsy will be done shortly on the deceased victim.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to contact the Calgary police non-emergency line 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Calgary police are also dealing with two more unrelated deaths this weekend. They’re investigating a suspicious death downtown where a man passed away suddenly after being in medical distress. They’re also looking into a body found in Fish Creek Park Sunday morning. It’s not clear if that death was a suicide or a homicide, police say.
