Quebec was just named one of the most underrated places to travel to this summer.

Condé Nast Traveler recently released its list of 19 underrated vacation spots in the United States and around the world.

The Canadian province ranked among the top 19 for international destinations.

Described as having “the same type of charm you’ll find in Europe but without the exceptionally long flight to get there,” the travel publication hyped up the province for its history, culture, and food.

“Don’t overlook all of the beauty that our northern neighbour has to offer,” reads the list.

Condé Nast Traveler recommends visitors spend time in Old Quebec City, which is packed with history — no wonder it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It’s not a Quebec visit without stopping by Montréal, which is filled with museums, open-air markets, and amazing food.

“Don’t forget to explore the nature and French architecture found in the greater province,” reads the report.

The travel site suggests people stay at Hotel 71 in Quebec City, a six-time Readers’ Choice Award winner.

If you need a mental health break this summer, it recommends Monastère des Augustines, a former monastery from the 17th century that was turned into a health and wellness centre.

For accommodations in Montreal, Condé Nast Traveler suggests Auberge du Vieux-Port on the St. Lawrence River or Hotel William Gray in Old Montreal.

This may serve as some home-grown travel inspiration for Canadians who are choosing to avoid travel to the U.S. amid the trade war.

And if you’re willing to take a longer flight, other international destinations that made the list include Copenhagen, Denmark; Kyoto, Japan; Chiang Mai, Thailand; Budapest, Hungary; and Buenos Aires, Argentina, where the Canadian dollar can go pretty far.

The U.S. destinations that made the list include Finger Lakes, New York; Voyageurs National Park, Minnesota; Catalina Island, California; and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
