Eurydice in Love

Date & Time
Sat, Apr 8, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Description
THE STORY:
Eurydice Elose Wayles was a struggling Vancouver poet and a lost Soul, as evil Spirit Damian cursed her five centuries ago. Unfortunately, no one heard Eurydice’s desperate pleas for help, so she got trapped in the purgatory of the devilish Underworld. But one day, a wise Ukrainian shaman Alexander Formos, appeared on Eurydice’s path. They fell in love at first sight, and with the help of Sechelt Lands, Alexander retrieved distressed Eurydice from the demonic realm.
As destined soulmates in eternal love, Alexander and Eurydice battled Damian’s curse for the last four lives. Three times Damian murdered Eurydice when she was only twenty-six years old. Today they are meeting in Vancouver, B.C., for the ultimate battle to stop Damian from killing Eurydice again. With their shamanic magic, Alexander and Eurydice discovered how to break this ancient curse. They had to write and perform a play in poems, confessing their honest feelings of divine love to the world. Eurydice never dared to perform her poems for the audience because of Damian. Today, empowered by love, she finally found the courage to speak in her voice. By facing her emotional wounds, she would attempt to dispel the darkness created by her traumatizing past experiences.
Come to help Eurydice fight Damian and save her from the inevitable death!
THE CONCEPT:
Alexander Formos performs a very personal and intimate monologue play about one unique Vancouver female Soul, Eurydice Eloise Wayles. Alexander will read both female and male poems, challenging the concepts of masculinity and femininity while exploring the complexity of human sexuality through topics of sex work, same-sex love, and asexuality. Alexander will talk about the laws of nature governing our lives. He will also describe his direct communication with Souls and helps them on their spiritual journeys.
With the help of Alexander's voice, Eurydice would perform the poems she created based on her traumatic emotions, drawing inspiration from the candid experiences she witnessed as a sex worker in 1930s Paris. She would attempt to liberate herself and these lands from the darkness by sharing her daring, rebellious, feminine truth.
Each poem tells a story from the life of eternal soulmates and is preceded by a shamanic story of how the poem came to life. Each poem is created in collaboration with Spirits of Vancouver and Sechelt to act as a medicine song to heal the traumas of our shared Lands. During the play, the audience will participate in the shamanic ceremony of healing and female empowerment, celebrating the return of divine feminine energies. Alexander will explain the concept of embodied Spiritual Guide and how every person communicates with the Souls of others. Eurydice will assist the audience in claiming their spiritual swords and empower every person on their personal journey.
Alexander and Eurydice welcome you for a unique and honest conversation about life, death, spirituality, shamanism, lost Souls, past lives, immigration, connection to the Land, sex work, Divine Femininity, Mary Magdalene, World War II, and of course, eternal love.
THE EVENT:
The theatre will have a bar open before and after the show. Alexander will be available for friendly and open communication about the project and your possible feedback. This event would be a dialogue between an author and an audience during the improvisational part of the performance. Alexander would talk about his clairvoyance and share his perspectives on the essence of our world and the laws of Nature. The poetry program would primarily consist of contemporary spoken word/hip-hop inspired rhymes, but it will also feature more classical poems found in fairytales. Alexander will present an entertaining and engaging performance, hoping that it will be a fun, uplifting, and inspiring evening.
