Canadians enrolled in the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) will need to renew their coverage soon before the deadline passes.
Canadians who are currently covered under the CDCP should be aware of the upcoming renewal deadline to avoid losing coverage.
“Renewals for the 2026-2027 benefit year are open and will close on June 1, 2026,” states the government website. “If you do not renew by the deadline, your coverage will end on June 30, 2026. You will need to reapply to the CDCP.”
The CDCP launched in 2023 to reduce dental costs for Canadians with a family net income of less than $90,000. Canadians without access to private dental insurance may also qualify.
Who’s eligible for renewal?

To renew, you must already be enrolled in the CDCP. Although your coverage is still valid until June 30, it will end if you don’t renew by the deadline. It’s important to do so as the government warns that any dental care you receive during this gap “will not be covered nor reimbursed retroactively.”
Before renewing your CDCP coverage, make sure you meet all four requirements:
- You don’t have access to private dental insurance
- You (and your spouse or common-law partner, if applicable) filed your tax returns for the previous year
- Your adjusted family net income is less than $90,000
- You’re a Canadian resident for tax purposes
How can you renew your coverage?

If you meet the eligibility criteria, the renewal process is pretty straightforward.
You must confirm or update your personal details for yourself and each applicant. This includes:
- Social Insurance Number (SIN) (if available for children)
- CDCP member ID
- Date of birth
- Full name
- Home and mailing address
- List of dental coverage through government social programs (if applicable)
- Confirmation that you and your spouse (if applicable) filed your tax returns for the previous year and received your notice of assessment
You can renew your coverage online by logging in to your My Service Canada Account (MSCA) account. Once signed in to MSCA, the CDCP will be visible at the top of the page on your dashboard. Click on “Renew your Canadian Dental Care Plan coverage” and follow the instructions.
You can also renew through Service Canada online or by phone at 1-833-537-4342.
If you don’t currently have CDCP coverage but meet the eligibility requirements, applications for the next benefit year will open on June 2.
