What started as a fun baking idea turned into possibly one of the most eye-grabbing, mouthwatering local cookie businesses in Toronto.

Selling out in mere minutes, Andrea’s Cookies has gained popularity for its soft-baked cookies made with a deliciously creative twist.

Andrea Mears, the owner and sole baker behind the cookie biz, created the Instagram page for Andrea’s Cookies back in October 2019 and shares with Daily Hive that it wasn’t until months into the pandemic that it started gaining momentum.

“I started the Andrea’s Cookies Instagram page in October 2019 just for fun. It was a place where I would share photos and videos of cookies I baked and sell them along the way if there was any interest,” said Andrea of Andrea’s cookies

“Orders really started to ramp up once I launched my website in July of 2020, and now I pretty much sell out within 10-15 mins from when I release a restock.”

These aren’t your traditional chocolate chip cookies. Andrea has put great effort into making each cookie look like a work of art.

From mini eggs to Oreo cookie pieces, kinder eggs, themed mixes, and more, Mears has created and built a name that is so popular, you have to act quickly if you hope to get your hands on a box.

When it comes to production, Andrea doesn’t have a team of bakers by her side. She currently makes each batch on her own.

“I operate from my home kitchen (with one oven and 2 mixers!), which is why I’m limited to the number of orders I can take on per week,” said Andrea.

“I have so much support from my customers, and I love interacting with all of them. I’ve been able to connect with so many people I probably never would have met if it weren’t for this business!”

Andrea shares that she makes about 40 to 60 dozen cookies in the span of four days while using the rest of the week to prepare the dough, stock up on ingredients, and focus on the marketing and accounting side of the biz.

A box of a dozen starts at $30, for two dozen at $54, and three dozen at $76.50. Pre-orders are set two weeks at a time and restocks are typically on Fridays, according to Andrea.

Due to COVID-19, shipping to addresses outside the GTA has paused for the time being. However, delivery is available for Downtown Toronto, Etobicoke, and Mississauga at $10, and North York and Vaughan for $13.

If you’re in the Long Branch area, customers can pick-up for free.

Though Andrea currently works from home, future plans for her own shop might be on the horizon.

“Exciting things to come!”
