Block Party 2023 - Canada's National Ballet School

An open house with a festival feel and family-friendly atmosphere, Canada's National Ballet School (NBS)'s Block Party will welcome more than 1,000 guests to NBS’ award-winning campus for a full day of pop-up performances, workshops, refreshments, and activities for people of all ages.

Dance Workshops:

Join us for one or more of the free Block Party workshops. All workshops are 45 minutes and participants are welcomed to stay as long as they wish. All ages and levels are welcome. We are all dancers! Dance workshop styles include: Family Ballet, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Dancehall, Indigenous Hoop, Nova Dance Technique, and Vogue.

Dance Performances:

Don’t miss the pop-up dance performances throughout the day – taking place on level 1 in both indoor and outdoor party spaces! Enjoy performances by:

• BBOYIZM - Street Performance 
• Feryn King - Indigenous Hoop
• Ritmo Flamenco Dance & Music Ensemble - Flamenco 
• NBS Students 

Event Features:

Live DJ, retro games, fun house obstacle course and tons of family-friendly activities. Players will have the chance to collect tickets to win from free merchandise!

Creative movement space for toddlers and kids:

Creative movement supports the development of the whole child, fostering expression, collaboration and creativity while developing fundamental aspects of physical literacy. Our littlest dancers are invited to come get moving with NBS’ Community Dance team.

The Shoe Room dancewear sale:

A one-day only blowout sale featuring merchandise from The Shoe Room, Bloch and Vuori. Discounts, games and giveaways!

Block Party BBQ and Patio Bar:

Don’t miss the delicious party menu from featured caterer, elle cuisine! Smash burgers, truffled mac ’n cheese, chicken tinga tacos, and more! Menu items range from $6-13; no cash accepted (debit or credit only). Seating available on a first come, first served basis.

Scavenger Hunt: Open doors access to NBS’ stunning campus!

From the Betty Oliphant Theatre to the Celia Franca Centre – enjoy a self-tour by participating in the mobile scavenger hunt! Use your phone to collect clues while touring the NBS campus, and learn more about the School and its programs along the way! Players who complete the hunt will receive a ticket, redeemable for a prize.
