The location of the first Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) in Toronto has finally been unveiled.

According to the OCS, four initial retail locations have been identified and includes a Scarborough store at 2480 Gerrard Street East.

The other three locations will be in Guelph, Kingston, and Thunder Bay.

The OCS says it will be identifying more store locations over the coming months.

“Consistent with provincial guidelines, store locations adhere to municipal zoning by-laws, minimize proximity to primary and secondary schools and consider where illegal storefronts are currently operating,” states the OCS.

OCS retail stores are being designed with a lobby area, before individuals would enter the main retail store, which is similar to many cannabis retail shops currently in operation.

IDs will be checked to prevent underage access to cannabis — no one under the age of 19 will be permitted entry to the main retail store, and there will be no product in the lobby.

In addition to the retail store network, the OCS says that it will also provide an ecommerce option to provide Ontarians age 19 and over with a safe and secure way to legally purchase cannabis for home delivery.
