7 cannabis industry leaders speaking at HempFest in Toronto

Toronto is getting ready to host a huge cannabis expo this month – HempFest.

Taking place at the at the Queen Elizabeth Building on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16, the event is set to feature exhibitors, engaging demonstrations, and much more.

It’s open to everyone from consumers, to patients and entrepreneurs hungry to learn more about cannabis ahead of legalization. Throughout the two-day expo, cannabis industry pioneers will be taking to the main stage for a series of thought-provoking talks.

Here’s a look at the seven expert speakers you’ll want to hear at this year’s HempFest.

David Bienenstock

Author of How to Smoke Pot (Properly): A Highbrow Guide to Getting High, and head of content at High Times, David Bienenstock is HempFest Toronto’s special guest this year. He’s the co-creator of the podcast Great Moments in Weed History and contributes to a plethora of mainstream publications. No doubt you’ll learn a thing or two during his talk.

Alan Park 

Canadian comedian/actor, Alan Park has featured in CBC’s Royal Canadian Air Farce, the Wall of Comedy, Much Music’s Video On Trial, and The Comedy Network’s Pop Cultured. Park discovered the healing properties of cannabis oil after he was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer in 2013. His new podcast, Green Crush With Alan Park, explores and advocates for the democratic decriminalization of cannabis in a humourous, empowering fashion.

Brad Pattison

Pet wellness expert, author, and TV host of At The End Of My Leash and Puppy SOS, Brad Pattison has spoken at more than 800 seminars across Canada. Passionate about advocating for CBD, Pattison is working to make CBD-infused products available for pets. Check out his talk to discover more about pets and cannabis.

Paul Hartmann

Grower, advocate, patient, innovator, and A&R man, Paul Hartmann has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry. Regarded as ‘master grower’, he has supplied some of Hollywood’s biggest stars with medicinal cannabis, and today he’s a cannabis activist living in Canada. He discusses how cannabis has contributed to his pain management of prostate cancer and recovery.

Julia, Peter McWilliams Organization

In 2011, Julia discovered the works of the late self-published author, Peter McWilliams, and began online tributes to him. Her goal is to educate Peter’s story and share his literature (over 40 self-help books) with the world. To-date, she’s spoken at Champs Expo, 420, and Treating Yourself Expo.

Hosts of The Cannabis Show

Chris Foord, Basil Kelly, Kait Shane and Hart Steinfeld, host The Cannabis Show in which they explore and discuss medical cannabis in Canada. They discuss news affecting the cannabis industry, the benefits of medicinal cannabis, myths, talk about growing at home under Canada’s Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR) program, and much more.

Brooke Wilkinson

Account manager at Marigold PR and Cannabis Communication, Brooke Wilkinson has experience in managing revenue-generating brand national profiles in the digital world. She managed and developed content for Canada’s largest women’s online community, and creates cross-platform strategies that reach target audiences nationwide.
