Multiple Canadian banks are experiencing online service issues

Several Canadian banks are experiencing issues with their digital banking systems, so if you’re having trouble logging in online to your bank, you’re not alone.

According to statements issued by a couple of the Canadian banks experiencing the issues and reports on Down Detector, there are at least three banks being impacted by the issues: CIBC, the Royal Bank of Canada, and Vancouver-based Vancity, which was recently named the best credit union in the country.

A notification from Royal Bank says, “Due to technical issues, you may experience some problems when using RBC Online and Mobile Banking. You may also not see account details on the Account Summary page for these accounts.”

It also issued an apology for the inconvenience and said that it’s working to fix the issue as quickly as possible.

A similar message was posted on Vancity’s website, saying, “We are experiencing an issue preventing logging into Digital Banking and are working to have this resolved soon. For assistance, please contact the Member Services Centre at +1-888-826-2489.”

While there’s no notification on the CIBC website about an outage, there is a notable spike on Down Detector.

Daily Hive has reached out to Royal Bank, Vancity, and CIBC for more information on a potential timeline for services to resume and what might be causing these disruptions.

Update:

CIBC notified Daily Hive that its service issues have been resolved.

RBC told Daily Hive that its customers were not impacted.
