Because A&W is bringing Free Root Beer Day back this summer, and the fast-food giant will be slingin’ free mugs all day on July 20.

The arbitrary day was seemingly invented for, and is celebrated exclusively by, the family of burger chain that’s known for its frosty mugs of fountain root beer.

For the burger chain, Free Root Beer Day is an annual excuse to dish out its signature cane sugar-sweetened soft drink overflowing with flavours of sarsaparilla and birch root.
