Have you ever stared at a size chart with no idea which size you actually are, only to return something you wish you never had to? Or ordered the same item in two or three sizes, already knowing you would keep one and send the rest back, because the brand is new to you or its sizing is all over the place?

What if you didn’t have to guess anymore, and could see the look and get the right size before you buy?

Avease

Avease is a Toronto startup that puts the fitting room on the product page. Shoppers create an avatar once and shop with it forever. One click on the “Try On with Avease” button, right where the size guide usually sits, does two things: shows the shopper wearing the item, and recommends the right size from the garment’s real measurements, not a generic chart.

Why retailers should care

First, the lost sale. Coresight reports that 40% of shoppers abandon carts over size uncertainty. You pay for that traffic, only to lose it at the finish line. On-page fit confidence converts those visitors into buyers.

Second, the returned sale. Apparel returns hit 24%, with 70% driven by fit issues. With US returns topping $890 billion in 2024, the average brand loses roughly 20% of its gross profit to bad fit alone.

“Returns don’t have to be an inevitable cost of doing business,” says Michael Klein, Avease’s Director of Revenue & E-commerce. “Avease gives shoppers clarity right at the point of decision, cutting abandoned carts on the front end and costly returns on the back end.”

Klein spent 15+ years in fashion before Avease, moving inventory through Canadian showrooms and retail floors and running his own Shopify e-commerce store. For him, the mountain of returned clothing is as big a problem as the money it burns.

For brands, the lift is low and, for the first time, so is the cost. Avease connects to the store, adds the button, and builds the size charts from the brand’s own spec sheets. Most stores are live in days, not weeks, and shoppers use it free.
