You have a passion for all things travel. In fact, you’ve traveled far and wide and are ecstatic to sit down to write and create content about your adventures to help build up our travel channel, Mapped. You’re excited to learn about new places, educate people with your previous travels while fulfilling peoples’ wanderlust, and create the travel itineraries of dreams. You’re just the person to take Mapped’s editorial strategy global.
Position responsibilities
- Produce multiple pieces of editorial content on a daily basis
- Conduct necessary research required to produce content, which may include, but is not limited to, attending events, conducting interviews, and travelling
- Build and maintain a roster of quality freelancers through strategic travel networks
- Manage ongoing assignments, campaigns, and projects for the channel
- Work with the Managing Editor to develop content strategy aligned with both short-term and long-term goals
- Increase credibility of the company through quality, trustworthy, and ethical work
- Monitor and track industry trends, innovations, and immediate competition and apply learnings and insight to work
- Build and maintain relationships with industry professionals
- Attend and contribute in client meetings as required
- Collaborate with internal departments to develop custom advertising campaigns across multiple platforms
- Collaborate with the Marketing department to grow social media channels by capturing, editing, and posting engaging content
- Keep up to date with travel news and events happening around the world
- Appear in and host videos, if needed
- Participate heavily in the development of Mapped newsletter launch
- Travel on assignment as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum two years experience writing for a publication
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Extensive travel experience
- Intermediate knowledge of SEO and Google Analytics
- Proficiency in the use of WordPress or other CMS
- Excellent understanding of social media and its importance to journalism
- Skilled with graphic design, photography, and photo editing is an asset
