Subway is usually known for its reasonably cheap subs, but that seems to be changing with some jaw-dropping prices appearing on menus in Nova Scotia.
Twitter user @CarymaRules posted a picture they took of a Subway menu in Dartmouth and the prices of its “East Coast Style” subs are pretty outrageous.

The East Coast Style sandwich is a Lobster Roll sub and it’s a recent menu edition to Subway locations in Atlantic Canada.
And if you want a taste of one of these subs, be prepared to pay up.
The cheapest item on the East Coast Style menu is the six-inch single-meat sandwich, priced at $13.99 (excluding taxes).
For a double-meat footlong sub, it will cost a whopping $36.99.
Daily Hive called a Subway location in Halifax and it confirmed these prices were on its menu as well.
Although lobster is known to be expensive, many on social media feel like that’s just too much for a Subway sandwich.
I used to manage a Subway, like 10 years ago, I remember we had the lobster sub as a limited thing. It was expensive then, too, but nearly $40? yikes lmao

Lmao. A 4 hour minimum wage sandwich. What a time to be alive!

Others noted the price makes sense, given it is lobster.
“That’s actually a pretty good price for like a footlong lobster roll,” said one commenter.

To note, this is lobster so of course it’s expensive, but I still wouldn’t spend $36.99 + tax on just 1 footlong sub. I have better things to spend that kind of money on.
