And if you’re looking for the perfect escape from the city, you’ll be happy to know that the most thoughtfully designed, cozy yurt exists just north of Toronto in Haliburton, Ontario.
This incredibly scenic area has a long history with Torontonians (and Canadians) as one of the most picturesque cottage counties in Canada. And I had the amazing opportunity to spend a night there.
But this wasn’t your average escape to the wilderness.
Sport Chek recently launched the Woods Parka Lodge to celebrate the release of its new Woods Winter Collection. This is Canada’s first parka-insulated winter yurt. Yes, you heard that right.

WOODS was founded in 1885 by James W. Woods to outfit lumbermen in the Ottawa Valley, and was soon being used by many of those headed to the 1896 Klondike Gold Rush. Many Canadian pioneers depended on his design to survive one of the harshest winters on record. So you’ll sleep well inside Woods Parka Lodge knowing you’ll be blissfully warm.

You’ll be treated to your choice of a Woods Alverstone Expedition Parka or McBride Bomber Jacket to keep you comfortable and super warm during your stay. Plus, you’ll get to take your parka home when you leave!
While you’re there, you can also snowshoe up to 60-acres of the Haliburton Highlands that surround the Woods Parka Lodge, or simply kick back if that’s more your vibe.
