Yikes! Hold onto your hats roofs, Newfoundlanders!

Located at the extreme southwestern tip of Newfoundland, the town of Port aux Basques has been hit by a huge storm on November 29, 2018, with winds so aggressive that the roof was blown off of the Harbour Restaurant.

Winds from the northeast clocked in at a whopping 130 km/hour, causing road closures, cancelled ferries, power outages, heavy debris, and other minor damage to infrastructure. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Between this and the recent giant waves that destroyed seaside balconies in the Canary Islands, we’re staying inland until the weather learns to behave itself!
