A bright orange bird caught the eyes of passers-by on the A41 road in Haddenham in Buckinghamshire, England.

Photos shared online are prompting questions about a new species gracing the land. Is it an exotic bird? A golden phoenix? Is Harry Potter behind this?

But all speculations must be put to rest, as a veterinarian office determined that the bird was, in fact, just a seagull covered in curry or turmeric.

Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital (a whimsical name in itself) shared on Facebook that the substance had covered the bird’s feathers, preventing him from flying properly.

“Apart from the vibrant colour and the pungent smell, he was healthy,” the post shared.

The staff bathed the gull and named him Vinny, after Vindaloo curry. He is now squeaky clean and ready to take on his next masala dish adventure!

Better luck next time, Muggles.
