This Canadian spot was named #1 on USA Today's top 10 best ski towns

Dec 13 2018, 1:31 am

The votes have been counted, the results are in, and one ski town is left standing above all the rest — according to a new Readers’ Choice ranking from USA Today, that is.

The town of Jasper, Alberta was voted as the top spot in the 2018 Best Ski Towns list, with the top 10 white powder destinations being posted by the American publication earlier this week.

Jasper wasn’t the only Canadian spot on the list, either, as Rossland, BC took sixth place, and Nelson BC came in tenth.

Here’s the full ranking:

  1. Jasper, Alberta
  2. North Conway, NH
  3. Steamboat Springs, Colo.
  4. Taos, NM
  5. Whitefish, Mont.
  6. Rossland, BC
  7. Park City, Utah
  8. Stowe, Vt.
  9. Breckenridge, Colo.
  10. Nelson, BC

With its warm and cozy vibe combined with an unreal location in the very heart of the Rocky Mountains, it comes as no surprise that Jasper would rank so highly on USA Today’s list. Don’t believe us? Just take a look at these photos:

USA today didn’t stop at the “Best Ski Towns” category, and Jasper wasn’t the only Canadian town to be featured (though it was the only one to take top spot!).

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden, BC, and Revelstoke Mountain Resort in Revelstoke, BC came in sixth and eighth respectively in the Best Ski Resort category, and Sovereign Lake & Silver Star Mountain Resort in Vernon, BC placed eighth for Best Cross-Country Ski Resort.

It just goes to show that Canada truly is a beautiful country — especially for skiing!
