Police are investigating a targeted shooting that occurred in East Vancouver this evening.
According to Vancouver Police, at approximately 8 pm, officers were deployed to the area of the intersection of Cambridge Street and Nanaimo Street after 9-1-1 callers reported hearing gun shots.
When officers arrived, they found one man suffering from gun shot wounds. He was rushed to hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.
“It is still very early in the investigation, but based on the information collected so far, investigators do not believe there is a risk to the general public,” reads a release.
This was the 12th homicide in Vancouver this year.
