A local woman has passed away after being trapped in a clothing donation bin.

The Vancouver Police Department first received reports on Monday, July 23, at approximately 4 am in the morning.

The call described someone yelling for help in the area of West 2nd Avenue and Trimble Street.

Officers arrived shortly after and met with a man who found his friend unresponsive, stuck half inside of the clothing bin.

With the assistance of other first responders, the deceased woman’s body was eventually removed.

An initial investigation revealed that the victim was a 39-year-old woman, who remains unidentified at this time.

Investigators have also determined that the woman’s death was not criminal in nature; the case has since been turned over to the BC Coroners Service.
