Snowfall warning for Vancouver remains... additional 10 cm expected overnight

Feb 24 2018, 9:50 am

The city of Vancouver has effectively been shut down due to the harsh winter conditions.

Schools are closed, roads are a mess, and to make matters worse it doesn’t look like there’s any sign of stopping.

Environment Canada issued yet another snowfall warning for the Metro Vancouver area.

The snowfall warning affects:

  • City of Vancouver – including Burnaby and New Westminster
  • Metro Vancouver – northeast including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge
  • Metro Vancouver – southeast including Surrey and Langley
  • Metro Vancouver – southwest including Richmond and Delta
  • North Shore – including West Vancouver and North Vancouver

The report states that close to 15 cm of snow has already fallen today, but heavier flurries are expected tonight. Periods of snow are set to continue through the evening and bring “up to an additional 10 cm of snowfall by Saturday morning.”

As always, be prepared to adjust your driving to the hazardous road conditions. Reduce your speed and give ample time for stopping, as well as driving to and from your destination.
