The RCMP have recently reported the discovery of a body on the shores of Okanagan Lake, specifically on the south of the Outback Resort on Eastside Road in Vernon.

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP were notified of the body on Tuesday, May 8, when a call was made late in the evening by a passing boater, who spotted it on the shoreline.

RCMP arrived on the scene where the body had been found, however, due to the precarious location and time of day, they were unable to retrieve the body and had to wait until the morning after.

On Wednesday, May 9, the BC RCMP Underwater Recovery Team returned to the location and successfully extracted the body from the water.

Initial investigations reveal that the death looks to be non-suspicious.

Police have not released any information regarding the identity of the person, gender of the body, or any physical attributes such as height, weight, or skin colour.
