Those hoping to attend Fright Nights at PlayLand tonight will have to make some other plans.

Fright Nights will be closed this evening because of the storm system expected to hit the Lower Mainland this evening.

Fright Pass holders with passes for tonight can use their ticket for another night. Check the Fright Nights website for more details.

Stanley Park will also be closed this evening and tomorrow as a safety precaution as winds are expected to reach hurricane force.

Tonight’s storm is expected to bring winds up to 60 km/hr to 100 km/hr, with the gusts increasing their intensity in Metro Vancouver from 9 pm to 2 am.

This storm, fuelled by the remnants of Typhoon Songda, has already left nearly 13,000 customers in the Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast without power.
