Vancouver Police are investigating after an assault in the city’s west end neighbourhood sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries over the weekend.

Just before 9 pm on Saturday, VPD officers responded to the report of an injured man near Alberni Street and Thurlow Street.

A 30-year-old Vancouver man was found to be seriously injured from an assault that had recently occurred in a nearby building.

The man was rushed by ambulance to hospital where he remains in serious condition.

“This investigation is in its early stages and is on-going,” said VPD Sgt. Jason Robillard in a release.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the incident.

“This assault is not believed to be random and investigators do not believe the public is at risk,” said Robillard.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call investigators at (604) 717-2500.

The investigation is ongoing and police said no further information is available at this time.
