Police in Burnaby are investigating after human remains were found at a park in the city on Tuesday morning.
Just after 10:30 am, Burnaby RCMP were called to a “wooded area” of Confederation Park, after a person reported finding what they believed to be human remains.
Police attended the scene, secured the area and have since confirmed that the partial remains are indeed human.
RCMP said officers will be on scene in the park today and in the coming days as they conduct their investigation.
At this point, police said the remains haven’t yet been identified and it is too early to say where the remains came from, or how they ended up in the park.
However, there is currently nothing to indicate any danger to the public, police noted.
More information is expected to be shared as it becomes available.
