Police were called to Abbott and West Pender just before 5 am on Monday. They located a taxi where a 29-year-old woman was in the backseat suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Police initially took two people into custody after the shooting. One of the individuals has since been released without charge.

However the VPD has confirmed that the second person, named as Andy-Oscar Owusu, has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a loaded firearm, and discharge of a firearm with intent to wound.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Vancouver Police Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
