Outdoor adventure travel booking service, Leavetown, has acquired ShareShed and Guiides.com – two Vancouver-based adventure tech startups.

ShareShed, founded by Daniel Dubois, is a peer-to-peer gear rental marketplace (think Airbnb for outdoor adventure gear). Meanwhile Guiides.com is a booking service that connects people to local outdoor guides.

“It’s simple,” Dubois said in a release. “We believe nothing compares to experiencing adventures like locals do and seeing the world through their eyes for a day or two. By teaming up with Leavetown we’ll be able to facilitate access to even more authentic adventures together.”

Leavetown was founded in 2012 by Mike Livertown who sold his UK-based tech company and moved to BC where he discovered the province’s natural beauty.

From there, he developed Leavetown.

“Travellers are increasingly seeking authentic local encounters,” said Liverton.”The acquisition of ShareShed and Guiides.com allows us to connect our Leavetown guests with a rapidly expanding community of local outdoor adventurers.

With this acquisition, Leavetown is getting ready for a global expansion that will see them offer their services in Australia, Europe, and South America.
